Bryan D. Thompson 1931 ~ 2010 AURORA, UTAH - Our kind, loving, gentle husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother, Bryan Dale Thompson, age 79, returned to our Heavenly Father November 10, 2010, at his home in Aurora, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bryan was born March 28, 1931 in Salina, Utah a son of Merrill LeRoy and Ruby Josephine Nielsen Thompson. He joined the United States Air Force after graduating from North Sevier High School, where he served in the Korean Conflict as a telegraph operator in communications. He was honorably discharged in 1953. He married his sweetheart Maria Teresa Gonzalez, November 21, 1954 in Laredo, Texas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, June 18, 1986, for time and all eternity. Bryan worked at US Gypsum and later transferred to Georgia Pacific where he worked for 40 years as a foreman. Bryan loved his family, fishing and more fishing, four-wheeling, and is known by many for his great woodworking. He could make anything anyone asked of him. He also had the biggest and tastiest garden in the neighborhood. He is survived by his loving wife Teresa of Aurora, his children: Craig Thompson of St. George; Davy and Jann Thompson of Salina; Hilary and Troy Martin, Nanette and Don Smith, all of Layton; Lanette and Don Crane of Bennington, Idaho; 20 grandchildren; three great-grand-children; a brother Denny DeVaughn Thompson of West Valley City. He was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Dale Thompson; a brother, Val Merrill Thompson and a sister-in-law, Monty Gay Thompson. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Aurora 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 North Main Street in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. or Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Aurora Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
